In July of 2018, the Nazarene Seminary of the Americas (SENDAS) made an important agreement with Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) of San Diego, California.

Under this agreement, SENDAS will provide a “bridge program” which will serve the 12 districts of the United States and Canada that are part of the PLNU educational region. Those districts cover the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Hawaii, and parts of Nevada, Utah and Texas.  Two-thirds of all Hispanic Nazarene churches in the United States and Canada are located on the PLNU educational region.

SENDAS will offer face-to-face classes at various centers on the region in addition to videoconference and classical online classes. At the end of the program, students will be in a position to enter the new Master of Arts in Christian Ministry at Point Loma, taught completely in Spanish.

PLNU is added to the list of Nazarene institutions in the United States who have made agreements with SENDAS.

Dr. Ruben Fernandez, president of SENDAS says: “It is with great joy we have signed this agreement with such a prestigious institution as Point Loma Nazarene University, one of the “top” Christian universities in the United States. We greatly appreciate the direction of Dr. Mark Maddix, dean of the School of Theology and Christian Ministry, Rev. John Calhoun, director of the Center for Pastoral Leadership, Dr. Jonathan Salgado, director of the Masters in Spanish, and Rev. Wilmer Guido (graduate of SENDAS who currently serves as Latin Liaison for the Center for Pastoral Leadership at Point Loma) to make this agreement a reality.

Additionally, I would like to express a special word of thanks to two key leaders at PLNU, Dr. Kerry Fulcher, dean of Academic Affairs and Dr. Bob Brower, president of the university who have been friends of SENDAS for many year, for their long-standing support.”

SENDAS increases its sphere of service on the USA/Canada Region through each agreement – as part of the broader agreement with Multicultural Ministries under the leadership of Dr. Roberto Hodgson – helping Spanish-speaking ministers to advance to the next level of preparation.
